I Have Some News

moving_van.jpg
I’m moving. Well, to be more precise, this blog is moving. I’ve had a tremendous time here at MLBlogs but I’ve decided to bring “Confessions” over to my web site, which will have a new look and feature the launch of another blog called “Mainly Jane” (its content will cover non-baseball-related stuff like books, the writing process, movies, recipes, you name it).
It’s hard for me to believe that I only started the “Confessions” blog because a publicist at Rodale told me to. They were about to publish my “She-Fan” book and the publicist wanted me to get out and promote it. “Sign up at MLBlogs and make some baseball friends,” she said. “And be sure you post a lot.”
I honestly didn’t know what she was talking about. I may have even said, “What’s a blog?”
But I did sign up here, and once I started writing about the Yankees I couldn’t stop. And I did make baseball friends – so many. I jumped up and down the first time somebody left a comment. I couldn’t believe anybody would want to read what I had to say. In the early days I “met” other MLBloggers like Jeff, Paul, Renegade, Elizabeth, Jenn, Sue, Cat and Emma, and then the non-MLBloggers/Yankee fans joined the party: Melissa, Diane, Dave, Peggy, Barbara, Harold, ladyjane, dj, medicap, Freya, John, Wendy, Ellen, Antonella, Nadine and all the gang. (I know I’m leaving people out and I’m very sorry; my brain is fried tonight.)
I’ll post the new location/address/url for “Confessions” as soon as Kristen, my web guru, gives me the all clear that we’re live over there. We’re shooting for Friday, but tech things can go awry so I’ll be more specific about a day as we get closer.
I realize I’ll lose some readers; it goes with the territory when you move. But I hope most will follow me over to the new place and continue to provide us with an entertaining dialogue. I promise it’ll be fun, especially once the season kicks off.
In the meantime, unless something happens in Yankeeville I’m going to do Nostalgia Posts each night until the move – my favorite entries from the archives, plus commentary. It’ll be interesting to take a look back and see what’s happened since that inaugural post in August 2008.
‘Night.

Rest assured Jane, I’ll still be reading your blog no matter where it is. You always have great stories and analysis. I’ll also be sure to update the URL for it on the “favorite bloggers” section of Yankee Yapping. :)

I hate moving. Putting your life into boxes, watching people you don’t know move your stuff around (I recently graduated from having people I know (ie my friends) help me move). It’s a big pain. But onto bigger and better things! I will definitely be following you and look forward to the new season.

it only took long enough for me to make chicken and homemade dumplings tonight to sign in… I’m Thrilled you are moving. Now i will never have to come to MLB Blogs again. yes, I have met wonderful people here. you of course ( but that was The Times article I think) , Geoff’s Bleeding Pinstripes led me to Jason and Joe the Statmagician – you guys are my “oldest” baseball internet friends,,,all the way back to 2007. Seems an age ago.

Looking forward to another great year with a happier ending of course and also hope to attend a game with you
xoxo mike

Aw, thanks, A.J. I appreciate that you’ll stick around – and add the new url to Yankee Yapping. I hope to have the info by the end of the week. So many glitches getting all this going!

I hate moving too, cheshirecat. It’s so disruptive. But I’ve done it a lot in my life, so I’ve gotten pretty good at it. The trick is to throw stuff out. Seriously. Michael’s a bit of a hoarder and every time we’ve moved, I’ve had to toss his stacks of magazines in the recycling bin when he wasn’t looking. But yes, on to the next gig! I’ll be happy to see you over at the new place.

HAHAHA, Mike. Last time you commented you said it took longer to sign in than giving birth to a child. Making chicken and homemade dumplings may be progress! I think Jason was already gone from MLBlogs by the time I got here and was writing his “Heartland” blog. It’s been interesting watching people come and go and to welcome new bloggers here. It’s such a great community of baseball fans. Looking forward to going to a game with you too. Maybe it’ll happen this summer? How about flying out to Anaheim in June when the Yanks will be there? I think we’re going.

Wow, this is a surprise! Good luck, Jane.

I enjoy reading your blog each day and will continue to do so! Will you still be posting the links daily on your FB pages? I find it is easier than using bookmarks or RSS feeds for all my favorite news/blogs who have an FB page/profile.
Love your blog! ~ Roseann

Hi Jane, it’s going to be very strange not to read your blog on MLBlogs but I look to watching the continued growth and evolution of your existing and future blogs. While it’s great to get your spin on the world of Yankeeville, I am excited to hear about your Mainly Jane blog and I’m sure that it will be highly entertaining and a daily must read. All the best to you in your new venture!

Scott

Well, I gotta say that although your Yankees frustrate me, I’ve enjoyed your blog and look forward to reading your new one.

By the way Cubs vs Yankees in June.

Exciting for you! New season, new location, new look. Can’t wait to see it. Will you still be on Twitter?
Good luck!
Jane

“where you lead, I will follow”

Will our comments post without duplicates? Will semi naughty words be allowed? Will we be able to sign on without growing older?

Sounds great Jane and I look forward to the non baseball blog too!

Melissa

I’ll be around for the duration. I’m like a bad habit, you can’t shake them!

Thanks, Bern. I know you’ve moved your blog around, so I’m following in your footsteps.

If you find the Facebook posts easier to use, Roseann, I’ll continue to post the blog entries there too. It’s just more fun for me to get comments on the blog itself. There’s something so cool about logging in and seeing actual people there, as if you invited guests to a party and they showed up!

I don’t know if the Mainly Jane blog will appeal to most people here, Scott, but it’s nice that you’re interested in reading it. I needed to find a way to accommodate my dual personas – the baseball addict and the person who has other interests. I’ve found that the readers of my novels aren’t interested in baseball at all, so I’ve neglected them over the last two years. And the baseball fans couldn’t care less about my opinion of a novel I just read. So now I can do both in the same place. Seemed to make sense!

Thanks, Mark. That series between our two teams should be exciting, although I’ll miss Lou Piniella at the helm. It was fun for Yankee fans to see him again.

Of course I’ll still be on Twitter, ladyjane. Wouldn’t miss that craziness for the world!

Leave it to you to sum up the reasons I’m moving, Melissa! The technical glitches here have made me tear my hair out at times – from the duplicate posts to the time it takes to sign in, to the fact that you have to check off “I don’t want to receive any MLB newsletters” every single time you sign in, to the fact that I often can’t comment on my own blog because I get an error message. (That’s not to say there aren’t lots of glitches with the new blogs. I’m still learning how to post there and have been writing dress rehearsal posts!) But mostly I really wanted to control my own content and, yes, that means you can use naughty words and not be censored.

I’m glad you’re unshakeable, John. It’s always fun to read what you have to say.

Thanks, Jeff. Aren’t you glad you’ll be #1 now? Or will there be a competition between RSBS and Renegade? Should be fun over here once I’m out of the way. LOL.

I’m very glad you’ll be sticking around, Nadine. I just hope our Yankees give us lots and lots of happy things for me to write about and you to comment on.

We’ll follow you, Jane! In a non-creepy way, of course! Loved stopping by these last few years and I look forward to visiting you at your new home soon.

WOW. Didn’t see THAT one coming. But, of course, I never do anyway…
Well well well. Great Good Luck & Fortune with all this. You know to never doubt that I’ll follow along, like a faithful lap dog. Hopefully, all the ‘Core Four’ and The Usual Suspects will follow along. And NOW I will fulfill that vow to go out there and buy a couple of your novels, too, in order to be more up 2 date with you…
And now it’s time for “Confessions of a He-Fan,” so to speak. Most of you don’t know/have no idea/wouldn’t care, but the “inside joke” that Jane and I have always shared is this: we are/were high school classmates, Scarsdale HS, Class of ’68. The most fascinating part is — we barely knew each other. You see, Ms. Heller was more or less “in with the in crowd,” as Dobie Gray once sang, but in a very good way — and me? — not so much — but I made “Team Geek” 2 or 3 years running (on the track team). That should be painfully obvious by many of my postings, of course — and someday, we may actually “meet again” for the first time…! Until (or unless) that day comes, this is, has and will continue to be more fun than a barrel of Yankee monkeys…!

Of course I will follow you as well. =) My “first game”, your book and your blog (plus twitter) are the best things that have happened to me in the past year. I love reading your posts, so I’ll definitely stick around. Lol.
– Nadine

Ah, you can’t get rid of me that easily. :-)

Smart move. That’s all I’ll say on the subject.
My guess is that you won’t have your name conveniently eliminated from the “Book Authors” list on the Blogosphere page as I did when I departed. But you don’t set fire to the bridge after crossing (or on the way across) like I do. We all have our ways. I’ll bookmark your site and link it when you comment on mine.
You should link it in this posting too.
http://paullebowitz.com.previewyoursite.com/blog/?p=276

Yup. Fun it is, ALWAYS. And ain’t life strange…
Wanted to post again to say that what you’re doing really IS welcome. Melissa said it beautifully — now maybe we can sign on without “growing older.” It’s really about a 5-step process for me…and that’s if the damn thing doesn’t “blow up” in the middle of a posting, or God forbid, my fat little fingers hit the wrong key…most of my best postings have been lost in the ether thanx to little spastic moments…nice to know (sort of) that others suffer many of the same indignities.
But what that all means is it’s a testament to YOU that we all have dealt with that caca just to stay connected. Your next site will be even BETTER…and, to quote a certain Jets football player (so sorry, Diane)…”Can’t Wait!!”

ahh Jane, I’ll miss you here but I’ll check your blog to get my Jane fix.
I think there are changes coming to the MLB blogsand will hear from Mark soon. My blue crystal ball says so :-)

Aw, Jane! I’ve never commented on your blog before, but I think this is a worthy occassion to start. I love reading your blog, in fact, it was this MLBlog that encouraged me to start one of my own! Well, I’ll certaintly still follow you. Best of luck!

Of course Jane I’ll be at your new blog site and can’t wait to read Mainly Jane too.
Freya

No, I don’t set fire to the bridge after crossing it, Paul. I have no reason to. I’ve enjoyed my time here very much and am grateful for the chance to learn about blogging.

That’s sweet, Emma. I’m sure MLBlogs will evolve and grow and continue to be the premier site for baseball fans. No doubt about it.

I didn’t mean to shock you, Dave! That’s why I’m giving everybody some notice – to say I’ll be moving but not this minute! I’m sure we’ll meet one of these days, maybe at a Yankee game. It’s been fun connecting with someone I never knew in high school but was right there in my midst!

You must have really had it with sitting around for Cashman to make a move — way to take the lead!! ha, ha

I also will continue to follow, wherever you go. I don’t read blogs too often, but I do always read yours. I appreciate that you post something everyday and that you respond to everyone’s comments. It really feels like we get to know each other here because it feels more like a “conversation” than just random people leaving comments.

Can’t wait for the season to start. THANK YOU for keeping us connected to our Yankees, baseball, and fellow she-fans!

I’d hate to get rid of you, Peg. xxoo

If all goes well, Dave, you should be able to post a comment at the new place very easily and quickly. (Famous last words…)

I, for one, very much enjoyed both your baseball related posts and your movie/book/anything else related posts, so I will definitely be visiting your new home! Enjoy the less-glitchy system :)

Catherine, I’m so sorry that it took my news for us to officially meet. But I’m very glad it encouraged you to comment so now I know you’re there. How incredibly flattering that this blog gave you the impetus to start your own. I love that! I wish you the best with it.

Oh, good, Freya. I’m thrilled that you’ll be on board for both blogs.

Wow, who said the Hot Stove season had no more surprises for us! I wish you the best of luck to you in the new digs. I will definitely be among those still dropping by and I am sure I will enjoy your other blog as well. Baseball and books in the same location is win, win for me.

DJ, I never made the connection between Cashman’s inactivity and my move, but you’ve now given me an even better reason to create some noise. HAHA. I love that you been reading the blog because of the “conversation.” That’s the part I enjoy the best – the back-and-forth between commenters and how we all feel we know each other a little bit. Thanks for sharing that feedback. It’s very helpful going forward.

Kristen, you’ve been one of the nice surprises to come along here at MLBlogs. I have no doubt that you’ll move up the leaders list because your posts are entertaining, thoughtful and well written. Do drop by the new place when you get a chance.

I wanted to pass along my well wishes as you relocate She-Fan to your new server. We, in the MLBlogosphere, will miss you as you have been our go-to Yankee Fan blog for all things Pinstripes! Let me know the URL and I’ll redirect my blogroll to your new site!

Hi Jane & Fellow Baseball Fans….

First …let me say that I would follow Jane to the ends of the blogoshpere. I just LOVE this blog and the lovely lady who writes it. Confessions & LoHud are my daily fix and I can’t get through the day without either of them.

It’s been quite awhile since I have written but as I always say …I read EVERY single day and look forward to the next day’s post. I’m so excited that ST is only a hop, skip and a jump away. I will be at Yankee Stadium on Monday to try to upgrade my seats and pick out the ones I want. Afterward I will be going to the NYY Steakhouse for lunch. It will probably be my first and ONLY time as it is quite pricey but you only live once …right?? My daughter is making sure she’s along for the ride especially since Mommy is going to pay …LOL. (My daughter is another reason I haven’t written much because the wedding is just a little over a year away and things are moving along fast and furiously. No complaints tho’ because it’s fun planning especially since it’s a Yankee themed wedding)

It’s been quite cold in old NY but what can you expect ..it’s Winter. I’ll take the cold now hoping that things won’t be as bad in April when the games are being played (I’ve sat through snow, sleet, hail and downpours..it isn’t fun). If Andy comes back I’ll be happy with the team. I’m hoping for a much better year by AJ (couldn’t be worse ..haha). Hopefully, Phil has another good year, CC is CC and if Andy returns I feel the Yankees will be right back where they belong …on top !! The lineup is still fearsome and the bullpen is looking pretty darn good too.

Good luck with the move …don’t break anything in the move except records for blog posts .. :o). You are the BEST !!!

Go Yankees 2011 !!!!

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Diamond Girl. It’s good to hear you’re up for multiple topics! And a belated but sincere congratulations on your World Champion SF Giants.

Peggy, I guess it took my announcement to bring you out of the shadows. LOL. I know you read but don’t always have time to comment, so thanks for chiming in today. So you’re going to the Stadium on Monday? I will cross my fingers it doesn’t snow and even warms up a little. It’ll be nice and toasty inside NYY Steak in any case and I’m drooling with envy. Very exciting that your daughter’s wedding plans are moving right along. I can’t wait to see the Yankee-themed pictures, which I hope you’ll share with us.

Good luck on the move. It’s a loss for MLBlogs but a gain for the rest of the the blog world.
http://wrigleyregular.mlblogs.com/

I appreciate your good wishes, Randy. I’m delighted that my blog has been your go-to for all things Yankees.

Very nice sentiment, russelw. I wish you the best with your blog too.

Hi Jane,
I’m looking forward to your new site. As long as you are around and as long as I am around I will be reading your blog and commenting. If I’m not now, I hope one day to become your oldest fan.
Harold

It’s a deal, Harold. If you’re there, I’ll be there and vice versa. But I’m sorry to say my mom has you beat in the oldest fan category. She just turned 94!

Wishing you the best of luck and I will definitely keep reading!

Ron

http://strictlycubsbaseball.mlblogs.com/

i too will follow you anywhere. you bring humor, warmth, wisdom, creativity and so much more to my day. i still remember when i first posted and was shocked that you wrote back. congratulations for such a successful blog and now turning it into just what you want. your the ace of the staff.
barbara

Thanks, Ron!

What a lovely description of this blog, Barbara. I’m so glad to bring all of those things to your day. As for commenting back, I remember when I got my first letter from a reader (before email) after my first novel came out in the mid-90s. I answered it and the woman was shocked that I did. I’ve been answering every piece of mail ever since and it’s my pleasure to do it. If someone takes the time to reach out, it’s the least I can do.

Jane,
I am stunned. Truly stunned, but I know it is the next evolution of you and your writing career. I have been honored and totally in awe of your writs for a long time. I have to say now that you have kept me here this long. I was in the Top 25 after 2007,my first real season and your words kept me writing here.
Jusat like a friend who moves out of the neighborhood we will wrtie, converse, but I hope I never loose sight of your brilliant smile and what you stand for….I truly aspire to one day write like you….again.
Since there is no cryin’in baseball….I better go.

Rays Renegade
http://raysrenegade.mlblogs.com

Didn’t mean to stun you, Renegade. I tried to break the news gently! I’m honored if my blog has had a positive effect on you and your writing. Your passion for what you do shines through in each post. And no crying. I’m not going far!

Will definitely be reading the new blog. (I’m heading over to check it out after I write this.) Glad to see you go, really. The blogs and people are great here, but the functionally and lag time is just the pits, and one of the main reasons I left last year. I keep toying with the idea of starting my own blog or finding another community, but oh the commitment! In any case, glad to see you’re moving up, and I wish your new blog much success! Now…when’s the movie coming out?
