Help!

OK, this weather thing is starting to annoy me. (For those in other parts of the world, California is getting hammered by what forecasters are calling “the rain of the decade.”) We have a creak running through the base of our road and after only two days of this stuff it’s risen so high I can’t drive my car through it. And we’re supposed to get more rain for another seven days straight. Luckily, our hillside has a back way out that’s supposed to be used in emergencies (like wildfires) but it’s a very narrow, steep, windy road that scares the you-know-what out of me. If my electricity doesn’t go out, it’ll be a miracle. In the meantime, Michael and I are auguring in and planning to watch a couple of movies on demand. If they’re boring, we’ll pop in the DVD of the Yankees winning the World Series last year. That’s always a cheerer-upper.

Thanks, Matt. Somebody just told me we may have to evacuate if this crazy rain continues throughout the week, so I hope that won’t happen.

Um, yes, Scott. Wrong blog.

Hey Jane!
I hope the rain stops soon, having a rainy Christmas just sounds awful! & I definitely hope your power stays on.. after being hit by Hurricane Ike a couple of years ago & being powerless for 3 weeks.. I’d go crazy if the power goes out for an hour!

I feel for you. Rain just sucks. No matter the season, no matter the time, rain is horrible to deal with. For me, and many others on the blogs im sure, snow has been our neighbor all season. I for one enjoy it. It makes for that Christmas card setting i adore so much. But, try to stay dry and I hope you survive without a scratch

The rain has been a bit much in the Golden State. The drivers here drive as though there is a sudden 2 foot snowfall in Boston. Not fun. On the bright side, I have caught up on a few movies. It helps to take my mind off an otherwise horrible baseball off-season for SOME baseball fans! ;) Glad to see you post again. The world is just not right unless Julia has ranted! :) P.S. The DVD of the Yankees winning the 2009 World Series works for me!

Oops, sorry, wrong blog!

Well take care. That sounds more than a little scary. Having a creak by your house must be great the 99.9% of the time that isn’t right now. My fingers are crossed for no evacuations in Santa Barbara.
Things are better where I am. The hills above Azusa last burned a few years back so mudslides aren’t really an issue this year, thank goodness, though the street running past our place is a pretty impressive waterfall. Further east of here and in the Northern part of L.A. County though I hear they have flood warnings. Southern California ground just isn’t built to absorb this much hard rain.

You do get hurricanes where you are, Antonella. I remember them not too fondly from when I lived in Florida. I just didn’t expect the same kind of soaking here in California, but I’m learning.

Uh Jane, that sounds awful. What you have as rain comes down here as snow. Soooo much snow, it’s so annoying. Every morning I am basically sliding to work instead of driving and it takes so much more time.
I’m crossing my fingers the rain stops soon in Cali, so you don’t have to get evacuated.

You’re so right about the creak, Kristen. It’s so beautiful MOST of the time. Right now it’s like a river. Glad things are okay where you are. Stay safe.

I’m not a fan of snow, Nadine, so I feel your pain. It’s one of the reasons I moved to CA so I wouldn’t have to deal with it. And now here I am dodging extreme weather on a regular basis. Oh well.
