Daydreaming About Tomorrow Night’s Game

With way too much time on my hands this off-day, I let my mind drift. That’s what vacations are for, right? Anyhow, I started to imagine all the excellent things that could happen during Friday night’s series opener against the White Sox. Here are a few.

LOL loved the vid. Although you do have some pretty high expectations. I hope the Yanks don’t dissapoint!
By the way, the credits at the end made me smile! Pretty cool that you had Laura Posada and Amber Sabathia helping you out with the video. :P

Sarah, when we were about to play the Red Sox I did a vid of worst case scenarios. So this time I decided to go way in the other direction! I just looked and realized the vid is cut off and hard to read. Was fine on YouTube, but oh well. Glad it made you smile. Maybe something in it will come true.

LOL on the video! You have quite an imagination Jane!
I found your baseball book today! Although I have two other baseball books started, I started reading and I am enjoying it! You should write another baseball book.

Good morning! Great video! Hope all those predictions come true. Girardi clearly is not going to switch from the Yankees to manage the Cubs. I’m surprised there’s some hype on this. Jane, you should write another baseball book. Have you thought about writing a sequel to Confessions of a She-Fan? My best friend and kid sister have now read your book. Like me, they LOVED it! My mom is reading it now. It’s been a big conversation piece for us. We didn’t realize there were so many she-fans out there like us. We know you’re a busy gal, but keep us posted if you do decide to write another baseball book. Have a great day fans!!! – Becky :D

i love the video. with the red sox playing the rays i keep thinking how can they both lose and since i can’t quite figure that out i just keeping thinking we have to sweep. i don’t trust our pitching enough for that so the video was very comforting. i kept thinking it was going to switch to worst case –i guess that’s how my fearful mind goes–so i kept thinking i should stop the video while i was happy but then it was good to the end.
as for your books, i am hoping for another jane book. your books make me laugh and get totally absorbed. any coming out soon? i don’t know about others but i’ll read anything you write. a novel with a totally obsessed yankee fan seems to make sense to me but i’m sure you don’t need that idea.
here’s wishing for your video to come true or none of it to come true as long as we sweep.

I do have an imagination, Emma. My husband tells me that all the time and not necessarily in a good way. LOL. Very happy that you found the She-Fan book and are enjoying it!

Glad you liked the video, Becky. I would think the Yankees and Girardi will negotiate a new contract for him and he’ll stay. But the reason there’s no much hype around him managing the Cubs is that up to now he hasn’t dismissed the idea when asked. So that’s why he’s addressing the media and saying he won’t discuss it until after the season. He’s from Chicago, has family there, loves the place. You never know. But I agree that his leaving seems unlikely. So all the she-fans in your life are into the book? Fantastic. Thanks for sharing it with them. I thought about writing a follow up about last season, when the Yanks won it all, but publishers weren’t interested. The common response was, “You already did it.” I tried to explain that there were so many fans who would enjoy reliving that championship season with me, but publishers can be very shortsighted. So I decided to write a screenplay based on the She-Fan book instead. It’s very funny and my agent is sending it to actresses now. Keep your fingers crossed.

LOL, Barbara. If the Red Sox are playing the Rays, it IS impossible for them to both lose! Does this mean we have to root for the Red Sox? That’s not possible either, so you’re right – we’ll just have to control our own destiny and hope the Yanks sweep. See above about another “Jane book.” If the screenplay makes it to the big screen, we’ll have a lot to celebrate. In the meantime, I’m working on a new novel (a romantic comedy – no baseball). I’m hoping to finish it in a few months and then have it published as an ebook so I can get it out fast.

Hi Jane. I like this video so much better then the worst case scenarios.

I figured you would, cheshirecat. I decided to be upbeat this time and it was way more fun. Any chance you’ll be at the stadium next Friday? I’m going.

Hi Jane & Fellow Baseball Fans…

Jane …I dreamed those same things. I’m always dreaming of how the Yankees are going to slam the other team ….how they will go on a 27 game win streak (in honor of the 27th Championship)and bury the competition…how they will throw 3 perfect games in a series against Boston…how all five of our pitchers will get 20 wins each ..AND…of course, they win the MVP, CY Young, ROY, Hank Aaron Award, Silver Sluggers and Gold Gloves at every position. To top it off they go 11-0 in the playoffs on to Championship #28. What’s life if you can’t dream BIG about the things you love …right? :o)

Jane ..what’s wrong with those publishers ???? Are they crazy ??? A sequel She-Fan book would be a big seller. I’m happy about the screenplay and I’ll be first on line to go see it. You can invite all your She-Fan bloggers to the premiere too !!! I think you should definitely send it to Alyssa Milano because everyone knows what a HUGE baseball fan she is…
Good Luck with it ….keep us all informed …

Have a great weekend everyone …..here’s to the Yankees kicking White Sox butts (especially Swish …take that Ozzie)

Go Yankees 2010 !!!!

We have to dream big, right, Peggy? I like all your ideas and hope they all happen. Publishers are weird, what can I say. They don’t get it. But maybe a movie will happen. The script is pretty funny, if I do say so myself!

Hi Jane and fellow she-fans!
I’m back from California (what a gorgeous time we had!) and wanted to tell you how much I loved “Confessions of a She-fan.” I read the book on the flight out, finishing up just as we taxied down the runway at LAX. I lost count of how many times I laughed out loud and had to explain to my daughter, who was sitting next to me and is a more moderate she-fan, why I was laughing. Usually I just read the line or passage that precipitated my giggles so she could enjoy it along with me.
It is frustrating to be a she-fan sometimes – frankly, my family and friends all think I’m a bit wacko – so it was exciting to find out that my condition has a name, afflicts so many other women and is completely incurable! Now when the first thing I do upon arriving home in the middle of a Yankee game is run to the television or radio, or if my moods fluctuate between depression and elation over the course of three hours or if I tell my husband I want to be buried in my Yankee “I Live For This” t-shirt (and I mean that so somebody better make sure it happens!) we can all trace the cause back to my she-fanitis, a sometimes debilitating and embarrassing but ultimately manageable disease.
Here’s hoping all our Yankee fantasies come true.

Michael deserves an award of some kind or other. Or several.

Audrey, welcome back! Hope you had fun in CA. I heard the weather has been great there while it’s been raining here in New England (grr – it’s beautiful and sunny now though). So the book made you laugh on the plane? Perfect. I hoped it would. And yes, our friends and family think we she-fans are nuts. But we have each other and there are legions of us! I love your word “shefan-itis.” lol. Anyhow, thanks for sharing your thoughts and let’s go Yankees!

You always say that, Paul. He gets plenty of awards or should I say rewards. Thanks to me, he got to follow his favorite team across the country!

I’m worried about Andy’s bullpen session today. That’s all I have to say.
Jane

You’ll be at the Stadium next Friday the 3rd Jane? Unfortunately that is a day game and I will most likely be working. (Unless I get laid off in which case I won’t be able to afford it.) I am sorry I will miss you!

Just a random thought I had today, but what ever happened to Chien Ming Wang? I thought he was supposed to be pitching for the Nationals this year. Is he still hurt? And speaking of the Nationals did you hear that Strausberg has to have Tommy John surgery? That is a bummer.

Fabulous predictions, Jane, although “no-no” could mean something bad with A.J. on the mound (okay, I guess that would probably be “oh no”. Hope the bats let fly and that we sweep.

Sox-Rays is only a 3-game series so we can’t hope for a split. So let Boston win 2 out of 3.

I’m also really worried about Andy. I think he probably tried too hard in rehab to come back and may have re-injured himself. We need him for the post season, without a doubt.

Also in the pitching line, I can’t believe that it looks like Strasberg is going to need surgery. What were the Nationals thinking!??? The Yankees would never have allowed that to happen to a young phenom like that!

Anyway…GO YANKEES!!!

Me too, ladyjane. Really hoping for the best and wondering what’ll happen if the “best” isn’t there.

Sorry I won’t be seeing you on the 3rd, cheshirecat. I certainly hope you don’t get laid off, btw! Good question about Wang. I have absolutely no idea what’s going on with him. Is he even on the Nationals’ active roster? I doubt it, since we haven’t heard about him pitching. Yes, I did hear about Strasburg. I read about it on Paul’s blog this morning. http://princeofny.blogspot.com/

I had the same reaction to the Rays-Red Sox series that you did, Diane. Boston needs to win 2 out of 3, as much as it pains me to write that. Most of all, WE need to win our games and control our own destiny. Fingers crossed about Andy. And big bummer for the Nationals – and for baseball – about Strasburg. He had everyone captivated for awhile and put people in the seats.
