Singing in the Rain

singin_in_rain.jpg
It wasn’t raining here in Santa Barbara, but I sang while it rained in the Bronx. Why?
* Because the Yanks jumped out to a 4-0 lead over the Royals in the first.
* Because A.J. threw five shutout innings before the storm blew in.
* Because Cano is so damn good this year with runners on base.
* Because Jorge knocked in his 1,000th career RBI.
* Because A-Rod, while unable to hit #600, helped the team anyway.
* Because Colin Curtis got the start in right field.
* Because we won the game and only had to use Chad and Alby in relief.
* Because Swisher claims he hurt his Achilles while he slept, and there has to be more to that story.
* Because when we play the Royals there’s always a chance that I’ll see Farnsy again.

I think after AJ’s Kevin Brown moment someone slapped him over the head, and it worked. Great great win. Hopefully they’ll save some fire power when the Rays and Boosox come around. Arod is trying way too hard…. That thunder storm was short but still kind of scary.

Good Morning Jane & Fellow Baseball Fans,

As you know ..I’ve been to hundreds of games in all kinds of weather from snow, sleet & hail but last night was something else. The lightning was crazy and the rain was so hard you couldn’t see the other side of the stadium. Needless to say even under cover with the way it was blowing I got wet but it did cool me off for a bit. After it stopped you would never know how torrential the rains came down with the way they prepared the field. That drainage system is nothing short of amazing. No Alex homer but nice pitching by AJ, 1000th rbi for Sado and most importantly …another Yankee win … :o).

Naturally …I just bought my ticket for today’s game in hopes of seeing Alex get that homer. If it’s in the first inning it would be so cool because it’s Saturday and Davies is pitching. It’s also going to be very hot so with the exception of the exact date it will be like deja vue of #500.

Sorry to say Jane …no Farnsy sighting ..lol. He’s not that easy to miss either but I didn’t see him or maybe I just wasn’t looking …haha.

Anyway …I’ll be out there sweltering (I did make sure I’m in the shaded area) in hopes to see a little piece of history. Welcome back Sergio and Good Luck!!! GOOOOOOO Alex !!!

Go Yankees 2010 !!!!!!

P.S. they finally started sheetrocking my house & putting the new windows in…I’m hoping that means I’ll be home soon but I’m not holding my breath till it’s a sure thing. As I said before…at least I’m enjoying FREE a/c & maid service…24/7…lol.

Jane: I hope Swish returns soon, considering how awesome he’s been this year, but then again I want him to take his time. After all, Colin Curtis is doing a mighty fine job this year as well. I hope A-Rod gets that milestone today!

I’m not worried about the Yankees saving firepower for other teams, seindsfeld. They have to win games, period. Doesn’t matter who it’s against. And while A-Rod didn’t hit #600, I had the opposite reaction. He did take some big swings, but he also got on base a bunch of times. Didn’t look like he was trying too hard to me – much different scenario than when he was going for #500.

Peggy, I thought of you last night with all that rain and lightning. It must have been terrifying! And I agree about the grounds crew and drainage at the Stadium. They were reporting that there were lakes in the outfield one minute, and then the next they were taking the tarp off and getting ready to resume play. Amazing. Please drink lots of water today (glad you’ll be in the shade at least), and let’s hope you see history. If not, I hope you’ll see a good game that doesn’t require the use of our entire pen! Fantastic news about your house. Progress!

Should I bother asking WHY you want to see Kyle Farnsworth again aside from knowing that his appearance likely means a loss for his team?

Fun fact: Gene Kelly is from Pittsburgh. My buddies that are actors have to always study his works. alot of stuff in the city bears his name like auditoriums and theaters. while in disney at holleywood studios the great movie ride has a figure of gene kelly too!

I hope Swisher is better too, Virginia. He’s been such a great contributor for us this season, and I love him in the #2 spot behind Jeter in the lineup. Still, it’s fun seeing Colin Curtis get a shot!

You nailed it, Paul. An appearance by Farnsy usually means a win for the Bombers.

Perhaps the Yankees should put a shrink in uniform as a special coach for A.J.! So much talent in one arm…such fragility in that head of his! It was nice to seem good A.J. and not the bad A.J. of the previous outing. I was listening to a sports talk radio show the other day and they were speculating if the Red Sox should pursue Kyle Farnsworth to help with their bullpen woes. I could only think “Please make it happen!” LOL! Unfortunately, Theo Epstein is not that stupid…

Didn’t know Gene Kelly was from Pittsburgh, Matt. See all the great things we learn here?

Scott, Michael Kay was just saying, when Farnsworth came in to pitch right now, that his stuff is so seductive and GMs will always be interested. And Farnsy just shut down the Yanks!

Jane,
It was amazing all of the game that had a bit of liquid sunshine last night. One got played (Yankees vs Royals), one got concluded when the rain didn’t stop (Rays vs Indians) and one never got started (Jays vs Tigers).
But then that is athe curse of Summer with an open stadium. Just glad to see that only one of those three got popped into a doubleheader.
But the shortened game gave the Yankees another game up on my Rays. Hopefully the rain will stay away and bring another great nine innings of play tonight.

Liquid sunshine. That’s a lovely expression for rain, Renegade. I like it! Hope you get your game in tonight. You’ve got a chance to gain ground on us, since we wilted against the Royals today.
