Calling All Night Owls

For anyone in Canada – that’s you, Canuck! – I’ll be on the radio live tonight on a show called “Holder Tonight” hosted by Peter Anthony Holder. It airs on CJAD in Montreal and CFRB in Toronto, and will be available via streaming audio on both web sites. Oh, did I mention that my segment won’t start until 1:30 am?

Stay awake and listen! That’s what Red Bull is for!

Ouch! Can you tape it and play it for us?? Don’t touch that Red Bull stuff!

Make sure and mention the following:
1) Carey Price is crap and Patrick Roy couldn’t shine Martin Brodeur’s skates.
2) It must be hard for you Maple Leafs fans to understand how difficult it is to win so many championships since most of you weren’t even alive when they won their last one.
3) The Canadiens were once the Yankees of the NHL, but now they’re the Seattle Mariners.
4) Ask if any fans of either team would like to call in and provide suggestions of how to deal with your repeated Yankee-heartbreak a bit better since they have such vast experience with it and both the Canadiens and Maple Leafs are going to miss the playoffs this year.

They’ll appreciate the candor. Trust me.

I’ve never tried Red Bull, Julia. I don’t even drink coffee. I’m over-caffeinated as it is and would be bouncing off the ceiling.

I think I’ll be a little more gentle in my comments, Paul. I do want to sell books after all.

Paul – The best Maple Leaf stab I heard was from my cousin. He said that all you have to do is remind them that the last time they won the Cup, the photos were in black and white! I don’t know if it’s true but I loved it! Then again I’m NOT a Leafs fan at all.

Jane – Wow…really? Now I’m not going to be able to go to bed! That’s too cool to miss! I hope I can stay awake that long…Good thing I don’t have to get up early tomorrow, and my little guy is all better.🙂 Good Luck tonight!

Oh and before I forget to mention it again, I think having Sarah Jessica Parker play you in a movie would be awesome! If only…

1:30 am? Yikes! Are you talking ET or PT? PT might work considering I am on the East Coast (a Californian in Delaware…go figure!).

I really hope she means our time…I hate getting up early!

It’s 1:30 am Eastern Time, everybody. It’ll only be 10:30 pm here in California, so I get off easy. But Holder’s show is the graveyard shift in the East: midnight to 3 am. Should be fun!

Let’s go NJ Devils! Brodeur for the shutout record!
Just want to mention Devils are my third love, behind Yankees (first) and Giants (second).

He’s going for the shut out record now? Cool! Go Marty!!

Canuck-He’s only behind Sawchuk by three. He could break it this season!

Two records in one season – Marty can do it!
(It’s 9:25 PM and I’m still awake! – Only 4 hours to go!)

Do you know how many spelling mistakes I make at this hour? LOL! Trying to write an entry is getting impossible!

You’re still up? I’m trying to stay awake before I go on the radio. How’s your son feeling?

Actually, I’m still up and awake! Shocking, I know. He’s doing fine now, thanks.

you ready for this?

Yeah! I’m listening to the show on their web site. The guest on right now wrote a book about following the Rolling Stones around. So I guess my story about following the Yankees around won’t sound so strange!

It’s not strange – it must have been fun! Just make sure you tell some funny stories!

Nine letters to ruin Brodeur’s celebratory mood since they might meet in the playoffs again:

The other thing that could be nagging at Brodeur is the alimony he’s being forced to pay to his ex-wife. Ouch!

Things off the ice can get to you, that’s for sure. It’s gotta be rough dealing with everything.

The whole Brodeur/divorce story is worthy of The Bold and the Beautiful.

Now that you mention it, it sounds like something Sean Avery would bring up during the games again, and again, and again, and again.
(Then again, I’d probably use it to my advantage as well.)

Canuck, if I had to pay an ex-spouse the amount of money he’s been ordered to pay, I think I’d skate EXTRA hard.

It does sound like B&B, Paul. Which reminds me, do you hate Rick as much as I do? I was sorry when they didn’t kill him off.

Where was I at 10:3o last night? Oh yeah, the Library Bar in downtown L.A. sorry I missed it.

Sorry you did too, Emma. I had fun!

Hee hee!!! I DO hate Rick; I was telling my fiancee the other day how annoying he is and that I wished he’d gotten blown up in the explosion. The actor himself gets on my nerves too. She watches One Life To Live and he used to be on that one as well.
They should bring Deacon back; he was always good for a larff. I’ll never forget the episode when Deacon’s step father showed up and HAd…THis…HALTing…WAY…Of…TALKing!!! He beat up Deacon, stole his money and held the bills up in the air triumphantly as he screamed “HaPPY…BIRTHday…TA ME!!!”. The joke around here is that he wound up with only fifty bucks and should’ve screamed, “HaPPY…BIRTHday…TA…ME!!!! FIVE CRIsp TEn DOLlar BIlls!!!”

P.S. To everyone else reading this and thinks it’s a little off that I know all this stuff about a soap opera? I’m STRAIGHT!!!!

Paul – Straight guys do watch soap operas. Most just won’t admit to it!

Darn right they watch soaps. A lot of ballplayers sit in the clubhouse watching.

Now that I think about it, Uncle Junior used to watch the B&B while he was under house arrest. He thought Brooke was a who-er.

Is that true? I don’t remember it, Paul, but anything was possible with Uncle Junior. And Brooke is a who-er. LOL.
