Making History

Yes, the GMs are still meeting in Dana Point, but Barack Hussein Obama became America’s 44th president tonight. Condolences to any McCain supporters out there, but I’m in a celebratory mood. I went to an election night party with great food, great wine and great people. We had the plasma going nonstop as each state’s votes were tabulated, only taking a break from CNN and MSNBC to watch Stewart/Colbert on their Comedy Central special.
Questions still to be answered:
* What will happen to Sarah Palin? Will she go back to Alaska or land a job at ESPN?
* Can we get Obama to throw out the first pitch at the opening of the new Yankee Stadium in April? And will he bounce it to home plate or make a really good throw to Jorge?
* Will the Yankees sign Mark Teixeira? Sorry, this has nothing to do with the election, but I’m obsessed. According to Peter Abraham, Cashman says he’s not interested in having a makeshift first baseman (for ex: Damon or Matsui moving to first). This is music to my ears. I want a real first baseman too. I want somebody with experience and expertise in that position. I want Teixeira. Please, Cash, make it happen. Sign Tex and we can keep him out of the clutches of the Angels and Red Sox. Yes, we can! Yes, we can! Yes, we can! (Well, the slogan worked for Obama.)

I was a little disappointed in the election result because I believe that McCain and Palin would have made for much funnier Saturday Night Live skits. As for 1st base, My vote also goes to Teixeira.

Sarah Palin—-the Ian Kennedy of the GOP—-back to the minors with you!!!!!

On Teixeira, pinstripepride, I read today that the Angels are trying hard to keep him but hopefully we can top their offer.

Prince, great minds think alike. I commented on another blog that Palin was the Ian Kennedy of the Yankees – not much experience and not very savvy with the media. Or should I say, the “elite” media. As my grandmother used to say, “May she live and be well.”

You should get Texeira ONLY if he agrees to grow a Donny Baseball mustache. Yes, we can and we DID!

Tex with a Donnie Baseball stache or a Jason Giambi stache? (Giambi’s was courtesy of Hair Color for Men.) And yes, we did, Jeff. The only thing that marred my night was listening to Doris Kearns Goodwin, who’s a wonderful historian but a diehard Red Sox fan.

It would be great to see Palin workin the sidelines with Suzi Kolber🙂 I’m still not completely sold on Tex, I think pitching is more important and should be the focus. But if Boston picks him up they will be trouble, cause their pitching is already stacked. You know, I just changed my vote (I guess I was a swing state) Tex in ’08. Let’s go Cashman, make the call.

I say vote YES on Tex, Rad. He’s young, is a smart hitter (and a switch hitter), has an excellent glove, and would be great insurance in the lineup in front of A-Rod (in Abreu’s slot). I know I sound like Scott Boras, but it’s all true!
