Der-ek Je-ter (Clap Clap Clap Clap Clap)
Okay, so that hit probably would have been ruled an error on Uribe in any other ballpark and on any other occasion, but I’m so glad it wasn’t. I choked up when Jeet stood on first base, looking down at his shoes with the crowd cheering like crazy. When he finally took off his cap and acknowledged the fans it was vintage Derek. He really doesn’t like to make himself the story but the truth is, his quest to break Gehrig’s record gave the game a playoff type atmosphere it wouldn’t have had otherwise. Mostly, it was just the usual mediocre effort by the Yanks, who looked listless against yet another pitcher that was vulnerable and should have been chased.
